Thunderbird is slow

Postby sinergest » Fri, 01 Jun 2012, 17:11

Hello,
I am suffering great slowness using Mozilla Thunderbird email client. After some tests, I found file protection was the cause, and I was able to get full speed from Thunderbird after deselecting the radio button "Scan files with any extension" in the advanced settings.

What I am asking is: did anyone else notice this behaviour? How did they solve it?
I know my actual setting is not the most secure, and that is why I am searching for a different solution.
I tried these other settings, without success:
    disabling scan of files without extensions;
    excluding the Thunderbird profile directory (I used the environment variable path: %AppData%/Thunderbird);
    excluding extensions of Thunderbird profile files: sdb,sqlite,sbd,msf;

Thank you very much

What version of PCOP & Thunderbird are you running?

We havent had any other reports of this.

Please come back to me.

PCOP is version 5.5, and Thunderbird is 12.0.1. I also tried downgrading to version 10.0.4 ESR, but had no luck, either. I know version 6 is coming up in these days, but if you tell me no one ever reported this problem, maybe it will remain in the new version, also.

Prepared to test with version 6? I can setup a test account.

Let me know.

Yes, I would be happy to test. Just a question: can I import the test profile I am using now?

I just finished installing the new version. Speed seems normal, now, but I will definitely confirm it in the next days.

Hi Mate,

Yes, I can confirm.

May I ask another question? Do you have any idea when it will be deployed for Italian users?
