[CLOSED] "delayed write failure" messages due to virus??

Have you encountered a virus which disables a computer by continually showing "delayed write failure" whenever I try to do most operations?

The computer is an older model runing XP and has been fine up until now. It has become extraordinarily slow in addition to the popup messages. I have checked some online sites which report just such a virus. I've run my up to date Panda scan and still have the problem. I am aware it could be a hardware failure issue as well but don't know how to sort it out.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Do you see any other symptom apart from those delayed write failure messages? Perhaps a fake application informing of failures in the system?

Run a scan with the tool Panda ActiveScan Cleaner you can find in the Disinfection tools subforum

Thank you for your reply. The two things I have noticed in addition to the write failure messages are painfully slow speed on the internet and hanging when copying files to an external drive. I know the external drive is fine since it works fine with other machines.
I did run Panda cleaner as described and it found two suspicious entries that it removed one of which was in the registry. I'll now have to wait and see how my computer behaves over the next few days. When I reach a conclusion I'll re-email you.
