Panda Identifies Trojan during Install

Post by Canon_Man »

According to this thread:

http://support.pandasecurity.com/forum/ ... 9&start=10

The issue of a false positive was supposed to be fixed in 2015 (I think).

I just downloaded CDBurnerXP and during the install Panda Security came up with a message telling me it had quarantined a Trojan.

The source of the executable is a known site, recommended by two different Tech Writers.

Here is the source: https://cdburnerxp.se/en/home

I don't have the error message (or the quarantined file) from Panda on my Laptop, but may be able to retrieve it from the Desktop it was generated on.

If this problem of false positive was corrected in subsequent version of Panda, why does it appear to be still occurring?

If panda does not detect a file:
Please send a password compressed copy of the file to virus@pandasecurity.com.

Panda doesn't detect a malicious site or URL
In this case send an email to urls@pandasecurity.com including the URL in the email body. It will be automatically (after being analyzed) to the Web filtering.

Send of huge malware quantities to Panda
Send an email to virussamples@pandasecurity.com to send malware collections or multiple virus samples you want our Collective Intelligence automatically process.

You will receive an automatic response to acknowlege that it was received but don't expect a response from these email addresses regarding the resolution. The samples will be eventually processed.

Note: Always use panda as the password to compress the files.

in your specific case, if the file is sent to quarantine, it means it is an unknown file, not a detected one.

so if you want to know if there is any thruth on the detection, use the instructions I sent before, to send the file to our lab.

File (finally!) sent to Panda Security via virus@pandasecurity.com (Gmail would not send it).

Good morning.

Can I do anything further to help this along?

The quarantined file is still in Panda on my Desktop.

has it been quarentined and it still is inside the quarentine?

If it has been quarentined by panda, and you know it is a good file, you can extract it yourself from quarentine.

Or just wait until is changed on our datafiles, and it will be either excluded or eliminated from your quarentine

Yes, it was quarantined during the execution of the CDBurnerXP install program.

I assume CDBurnerXP created the .DLL and it was immediately quarantined.

I will send a copy of the quarantined file for review,OK?

Unfortunately, Panda removed it from quarantine yesterday, but re-added it when I attempted to do the CDBurnerXP install again.

I did restore the .dll file, but felt uncomfortable doing it.

In the end, I uninstalled CDBurnerXP and wiped all traces of it from my PC.

I removed the exception for the .dll from Panda's definition settings and did a full scan after uninstalling CDBurnerXP.

Reason for uninstalling: CDBurnerXP It did not work well with my DVD/CD burner anyway.

There is, therefore, no file to share.
