[CLOSED] Quickbooks - Firewall conflicts
I just upgraded a client from GP10 to GP12. I had difficulty getting QuickBooks to work with GP10 in 2010 but was able to resolve the issue by entering the program files which need Open Ports. A list of these files is available from the Intuit WEB site. I have entered all of these files (from AutoBackupExe to QuickBooksMessaging) into the Firewall setting of GP12 but am still blocked by Panda. Everything worked on GP10...everything works with GP12 disabled. The problem is not with QuickBooks. The QuickBooks Connection Diagnostic passes on the hosting PC but fails on the other workstations on the Open Company File option. Any ideas?

Hello,
Thank you for your post.
Does the issue occur when you disable just the Panda firewall?
Let us know.
Thank you.
Best regards,
Radko

Thanks for your reply.
QuickBooks will find and open the shared company data files if I disable just the Firewall option; this is how I left the workstations yesterday. All of the PCs are protected by GP12 with the firewall option disabled. The client is relying on the integrity of their Sonic Wall for FireWall functions.

Hello,
Thank you for your reply.
Please be advised that not only you need to allow the executables through the firewall, you also need to create specific rules for the needed ports.

Re: Quickbooks - Firewall conflicts
Thanks for the link.
I had entered these files from another list that came from the Intuit Connection Wizard. There were 2 files on this list that were not on the other list. It still does not work. I removed Panda using the uninstaller utility and tested the 2 PCs which only share the data files to see if they will connect to the "host" PC while running GP12 on the non-data PCs. The two PCs can connect to the host and access the data files without entering any of the files on this list as long as the Panda Firewall is disabled on the host-data system. The Firewall on the host is blocking something after completing all of the edits recommended in your link. The Connection Wizard on a workstation fails as "file access -3" when testing the connection on the database if the FireWall is enabled on the data-host PC. Everything is working as long as the FireWall is disabled on the PC which hosts the data files. I have 6 hours yesterday and 5 hours today in this project...I have never had this problem with Trend Micro products or the McAfee which comes on the Sonic Wall. I like Panda products and have recommended the GP prodcuts to about 170 of our clients...this is making me question if this is going to happen again on other clients' peer-to-peer networks...I can't make up for this much lost time in volume....
