[CLOSED] Remove Live Security Platinum

Postby HKSupport » Fri, 29 Jun 2012, 09:14

Have Panda Security any tools to remove/disinfect "Live Security Platinum"? Why do not Panda Endpoint Protection detect "Live Security Platinum"?

"Live Security Platinum" was removed with Malwarebyte Anti-Malware.

I believe that it appears as an installed application
Can you uninstall it from add/remove programs in the control panel?

Anyway, you should get rid of it with ActiveScan Cleaner. You can find it in our Disinfection tools subforum

Is it not an ordinary installed application.

"About Live Security Platinum: is a rogue Malware application designed by hacker to bypass the average computer security programs and infect as many computers as possible. These infection typically happen without ever asking for the users permission. Live Security Platinum will display multiple pop-ups and security alerts pretending to appear like a totally legitimate computer security program but it is not. Live Security Platinum is a 100% fake program that has the ability to cause serious harm to computers. If you have been infected by Live Security Platinum or are seeing this program run on your computer we highly recommend removing it immediately."

Sorry, I have not found any information about recommend using add/remove program to remove Live Security Platinum.

"Once the program is running it will pretend to scan your computer for infections and when finished state that there are numerous infected files on your computer. If you then attempt to clean your computer using Live Security Platinum it will display an alert stating that you first need to purchase the program before doing so. As the files in the scan results either do not exist or are not infected, you should ignore the scan results and not purchase the program. To protect itself, Live Security Platinum will also terminate any programs you attempt to run. It does this so that you cannot run your anti-virus programs or use specialized tools that may assist you in removing the program. When you attempt to run a program it will instead display an alert that states the program is infected. "

We have 600 licenses with Panda Cloud Office Protection. This is not the first computer infected with the "Live Security Platinum".

Why do not Panda Endpoint Protection detect "Live Security Platinum"?

Nowadays, malware tends to exploit Adobe and Java vulnerabilities.
First of all, make sure that your Adobe and Java are up to date and delete as well the Java cache
Make also sure that the operating system is completely updated

Regarding why PCOP didn't detect it, perhaps its a new variant we hadn't included in our signatures
Is your PCOP protection updated with the latest signature file?
Have you tried running a scan with PCOP?
Have you tried ActiveScan Cleaner?

Panda on the computer was updated. I did not even try to use any tools from Panda Security because Panda Endpoint Protection did not detect "Live Security Platinum" and I did not found any information about it on any Panda Security website or virus list.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware saved my day, again.
