[CLOSED] Sirefef and yorkyt.exe Removal
Hello,
My antivirus software shows I've been infected with Sirefef trojan. My symptoms are either no internet access but otherwise seemingly regular PC use availability. When I reboot, sometimes, and for short times internet access may turn back on, but using the browser then redirects to spam sites. However mostly internet access is not the norm. When I reboot, I keep receiving an Adobe Flash install update that I believe was the source...
I've been reading several sites that have discussed the yorkyt.exe tool for removing Sirefef files. The first time I ran the tool it seem to "freeze" or not respond about 15 minutes into a restore point. I rebooted and started over. The second time it seemed to complete the process and ask for a reboot. I did so, the tool started up again. However, nothing seemed to have changed and internet access is still denied.
Would anyone be able to share any insight or ideas about how to proceed?
Cheers,
Scott

In a bit of a follow up and reading some tutorials, I believe I found the installer file causing the problems, but am not sure how to delete and fully remove and replace. I'm an average user.

Which location is it being detected?
If its not in C:\Windows\installer\{random sort of characters and numbers} you can run a scan with the tool Panda ActiveScan Cleaner you can find in the Disinfection tools subforum. It should get rid of it
If its being detected in C:\Windows\installer\{random sort of characters and numbers} we are testing a new version of the yorkyt tool
