in the system tray it says unprotected but when you open it it says on and protected.
I know i have an old computer and not all things work any more, but this used to.
i chose panda because i was told it worked with winxp
It has only just updated and scans seem to work. but i need to know it is working, without deliberately infecting my pc - how do i know it is working
Any suggestions

YOu can test your antivirus (any antivirus) from here:
http://www.eicar.org/download/eicar.com
if it detects the download, it is working.
If it does not detect the donwload, is not working.
