Pavscan.exe crashing after server reboot

Postby Pilligore » Thu Apr 10, 2008 9:36 am

After rebooting your server, you may experience a crash dialog box, saying :

Description:
Faulting application PavScan.exe, version 4.2.0.0, faulting module mapi32.dll, version 6.5.7638.1, fault address 0x00037e9d

If this is the case, search on your server for files with the extension .dmp and delete them. Panda is seeing these old crash dumps and reporting an error.

Once these dump files are deleted, the error message will go away.

many thanks,

Get that error couple of times a day. There are no dmp files on the drive with our OS on.

Hi Robert,

Could you please confirm which version of the AdminSecure console you are on at the moment ? If you are not already, we would recommend upgrading to version 4.02.40 which is available in your client download area

http://www.pandasecurity.com/homeusers/ ... rticulares

Then download the latest hotfix pack and upgrade you server and desktop protection. This is available here

http://www.pandasecurity.com/resources/ ... 0_0003.exe

Please let us know how you get on.

Many thanks, Pilligore

Downloaded the updates and applied the hotfix. Panda updated the clients and servers.

The error still appears.

The eventviewer shows this error \"Reporting queued error: faulting application PavScan.exe, version 4.2.0.0, faulting module mapi32.dll, version 6.5.7638.1, fault address 0x00037e9d.\".

Hi Robert,

If you are on version 4.02.40, there are now 2 hotfixes that you should download and apply. These are listed here

http://62.233.101.80/pandaforum/viewtopic.php?t=135

The hotfixes you need are HAS_4_02_40_0005.exe and HAS_4_02_40_0002. Load both of these onto the console and update the clients and servers with the latest protection versions.

You may want to follow the instructions at the top of the Software Updates page and subscribe to get updates telling you when we release these updates.

Many thanks, Pilligore

Installed both hotfixes one after the other.

I'm still getting the error and it now reporting admin secure version 4.02.40.002.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Hi Robert,

If this is still the case, and the hotfixes are not working, we would recommend a clean uninstall / reinstall.

http://62.233.101.80/pandaforum/viewtopic.php?t=492

It may seem drastic but is often the fastest way to resolve the issue in this case.

Thanks,

Just finished the uninstall/reinstall.

I'll let you know on Friday how things went but it's looking good so far.

I'm assuming that all the current PC with Panda installed will appear in the console? We have some that are not connected to the domain. They're on a seperate workgroup for a client.

Thanks for the assistance

Hi Robert,

By default Panda works with Netbios names to talk to the server / clients, so if the name of the server and server IP is exactly the same as before, then all the clients will simply repopulate the database.

Any that you are having problems with, then go to Tools, Distribute Communications Agent, Troubleshooting Wizard and use the Restore A Flawed Agent tool to bring them back into the console.

Any problems, just post back !!

Thanks for all the help in resolving this.

It's been up for nearly a week and I haven't had the error report since the reinstall.

All the computers appeared back in the console.

Only problem I had was one machine came up with Spanish messages. Uninstall/ReInstall and it was back to normal only the NDIS drive had to be disabled or the user couldn't log in.

Thanks
