[SOLVED] automatic redirect to Panda page?

Post by |Trooper Hill »

I have Panda Global Protection 2012 running on three computers. However, this problem only occurs on one of them. I am trying to access www.hmrc.gov.uk. This is a government website. However, on this one PC I am automatically redirected to this webpage:

http://download.cloudantivirus.com/eng/ ... rc.gov.uk/

Is this a genuine Panda site and if so why am I being directed there? I already have Panda installed. The same thing happens no matter whether I use Chrome, Firefox or IE9.

I have run extensive scans with both GP12 and Malwarebytes, but the problem still exists. Any thoughts anybody?

You are being redirected there by the Anti-phishing Domain Advisor toolbar
You can remove it from the control panel -- add/remove programs
Or disable it from the browser add-ons

Anyway we are moving it with PandaLabs to correct the wrong detection. Issue number 03491421

The detection has been corrected
You should be able to access the URL without having to uninstall or disable Anti-phishing Domain Advisor

Thanks Jorge. I haven't removed the anti-phishing program - it's far too useful. However I see that the detection has been corrected now. Thanks for the explanation - I now understand why it was happening, but at the time I was unsure if it was genuine or a scam. Particularly as the page was telling me to install Panda when I already had it. I was also concerned that I had recently had to do a sweep for the "Welcome to nginx" virus which was a malicious redirect. Incidentally, Panda GP12 did not detect that virus and I had to remove it by running Malwarebytes and deleting all my browser history - which is a bit of a nuisance.

All the best,

Trooper.
