I just installed Panda free on my old windows xp machine after reading an article saying it's the best free antivirus for XP in 2018.
But I'm not having much luck. First it wanted newer dotnet, I had 3.5 so installed 4.03 which is the final for XP. Then I installed Panda successfully (I thought) and rebooted.
There's a red X on the system tray icon and it says its unprotected. Click start antivirus removes the red x for a few seconds but it comes back.
Selecting Panda dome from system tray or start menu doesn't seem to do anything. The other options on start menu bring up web pages.
I can't even figure out a way to exit it either.
TIA for help!
How to use?
Re: How to use?
I decided to try Avast and it's giving me an actual error message during installation about "Cannot detect File System Filter Manager Driver" because I don't have fltmgr.sys and fltlib.sys installed.
Are these perhaps also required by Panda too?

Re: How to use?
if it enables the protection for a few seconsd and then isables it, i would try:
uninstall all versions for panda
now download:
http://www.pandasecurity.com/resources/ ... otsupd.rar
extract contents. the password is panda
Now run the extracted file.
REstart the machine
Install the panda again from:
