check the following file:

psinoav.dll

on the folders:

c:\program files(x86)\panda security\panda Security Protection
and
c:\program files(x86)\panda security\panda Security Protection\x64

The date for the file psinoav.dll on both folders should be from February

if not hotfix did not apply correctly.

Now, if both files are from February, then open your registry by running the command:
regedit
and go to the registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Attachments
and on the right hand side double click on the key:

ScanWithAntiVirus

Change its value from 3 to 1.
Save and restart the computer.
Try now.

Hi, DarthPanda. The hotfix was not able to correct the PSINOAV.dll in C:\Program Files (x86)\Panda Security\Panda Security Protection\x64 and the file remains from 19 December 2018. The other file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Panda Security\Panda Security Protection\ is properly update to the version from February 2019.

As the x64 file is not updated the problems described in this thread and also in the other one (https://support.pandasecurity.com/forum ... php?t=7145) persist and Chrome and Opera frequently crash after completion of downloads when the downloaded file is written on disk. As you can verify from other online forums related to AV security the problem is common one.

Panda Dome is one of the best free AV around in terms of protection with minimum impact on PC performance. It will be pity to be forced to abandon it.

Your expert advice will be highly appreciated.

For further clarity: my OS is Windows 10 64 bit. The problem is reproducible on several machines - from i7 8 GB RAM to old dual-core with 4 GB RAM. What is interesting is that that at least on my machines if Opera or Chrome are in Private mode the issue disappears.

Final update. I have to restart my machines. Then I have to run the hotfix repeatedly. Only after this x64 file was updated. Once this was done the browser crashes were gone and the system become stable again.

Once again Panda Dome is great software. I know that it is getting mixed reviews from AC-test and comparatives but actually (and VB100 and other testers confirm) it is great and probably the best in the free/home market. Everybody that has tried the intrusiveness/heaviness of Avast/AVG or the bugs of Bitdefender (I am their former paying customer; many call it jokingly bugdefender) know what I mean. Free Kaspersky is great but... with all connections to the Russian government you may think twice using their products if you work with sensitive information.

What this long text wants to say is that Panda Dome has the potential to grow in popularity and reach its former levels. However bugs should be avoided. If you want create a tester program. I am sure there will be volunteers if there is some small benefit i.e. free access to more advanced Panda product. For sure the benefit for the brand will be worth it.

And just a final update: it was not necessary to touch the registry.

A side remark: if you install third party but safe add-ins to MS Office Panda Dome goes crazy and makes their work very heavy. Probably it should not be like that. If you are interested from the file please let me know and I will provide the file to your labs.

The problem remained even after the hotfix (http://www.pandasecurity.com/resources/ ... 8.06.x.exe). After downloading the fix, I restarted the computer. But if you disable Panda Dome in general, then the problem disappears. So the problem is in the Panda Dome. How to solve?

I have downloaded and installed the Panda Dome version from 18.07.00
The file name of the program PANDAFREEAV.exe is 15.14.4.0 (2 MB). Also tried to install the same offline version with the name of the file FREEAV.exe 15.14.4.0 (64 MB)
Both installations showed the same result. The same problem with browsers, both on Windows 7 professional sp1 and on Windows 10 Corporate. 64 bits.
Interestingly, on another similar station Windows 7 ultimate 64 bits, an earlier version of Panda Dome is installed 18.06.00
The installation was made in 2017, the name of the file PANDAFREEAV.exe 15.14.3.0 (1.8 mb) No such problems were found at this station, it works stably.

I recommend that you install the new version of PANDAFREEAV.exe 15.14.4.0 and verify the problem. Thank.

access the registry

search for the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Attachments ScanWithAntiVirus

change the value for a 1

restart the machine and check if solved.
