[CLOSED] Deleted files detected as virus without asking for action

Post by ramosdelpalo9 » Sat, 09 Jul 2016, 01:28

Hi.
I have installed Panda Free Antivirus Version 16.1.3.
Before starting a full scan, I went to Settings and turned on the option for [Ask before neutralizing a virus]. I understand that having this option enabled will ask me every time before deleting files believed to be virus. And I like to confirm if I want FileX to be deleted or not.
Then, I started the full scan, and checked the box for Shutting down the computer after scan is completed.
After an hour, due to circumstances I had to cancel the scan.
Then, I noticed that some threats were detected, and as a result, deleted during the scan.
Thankfully, the files deleted are from a program, and I can install it again later.

My concern is: shouldn't the antivirus ask the user for action if a virus is detected, with the option mentioned above enabled? Which never happened.
Or does the Shutdown option after scan is completed overrides the Ask option, and as a result virus are deleted as they are detected?

I find it weird that never asked me for action on viruses detected.
Or the option for the user to take action on viruses (instead of automated action by the antivirus) is not available on Panda Free Antivirus?

Thanks!
OS: Windows 7 Pro SP1

I had this happen once and it was a false positive. I too had 'Ask before neutralising a virus' checked. I thought they'd fixed this.

If you look the antivirus settings, they are separated in different categories or titles (Permanent protection, On-demand Scans, Quarantine and Exclusions)
This "Ask before neutralizing a virus" setting is only available for the Permanent protection, not for the On-demand scans so the behaviour is as expected.
If you consider that the option to "Ask before neutralizing a virus" should also be included for On-demand scans, feel free to add a new post at the suggestions subforum

If an element was wrongly detected you can recover it for the quarantine

Thanks for the information.

The "Ask before neutralizing a virus" setting should be an option always available in any antivirus. Making an antivirus free to use and convenient for users does not justify the absent of such vital option. This is my opinion.
I will be making a suggestion post on this.

The wrongly detected files are not quarantined. They were deleted.
This is of great concern if the antivirus will delete any files detected and not quarantine it.
It could then delete an important file and no way to recover it.
I hope this concern is taken to the dev team.

The only case where they are deleted is when the detected files are cookies
By default the files are kept in the quarantine for a week, but you can change it in the settings

Access the product quarantine, the files should be there unless more than a week passed since the detection
