[CLOSED] How to exclude SQL Server Management Studio SSMS

Post by mfc2 » Wed, 03 Aug 2016, 17:07

Panda AV v16 causes Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio to take an additional minute to start up. I excluded C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\ and C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\, but Panda AV is still slowing the startup of this program. I also added all the excluded file extensions that Microsoft recommends.

I ran SysInternals Process Monitor while Management Studio is starting up and PSANHost.exe logs millions of entries. The path for nearly all the entries is C:\

Question: how do I get Panda AV to exclude monitoring SQL Server Management Studio (2008r2 - 2016), and also Microsoft Visual Studio (2008-2015), so that these programs run faster.

Windows 7 x64.

Hi,

Did you exclude all the directories and extensions referenced in MS SQL article?

Yes, I excluded everything Microsoft recommended, plus I excluded the Program Files directories.
Microsoft recommends excluding certain processes, although Panda does not provide that features, so I excluded the folders that the process executables are located in.

Hi,

Did you have the last version of the AV installed?

If the exclusion are correctly done, the entries of Psanhost could be because we attach to all procces and if they are excluded, we libertae it, don't do anything wit it.

Anyway If the Psanhost has high CPU consumption, take PsanHost dmp.
