[CLOSED] Panda stops scanning at around 90% completion
[CLOSED] Panda stops scanning at around 90% completion
My system disk consists of 4 partitions, C: to F:, it is 1TB in total size and less than 20% full.
When I scan all 4 partitions in a single job, the scanning stops at around 90% and just sits there.
After a reboot, the job again stops before the end, at more or less the same place.
If I do the scan in two parts (C: and D: together, say, then E: and F: together), both jobs run to completion normally.
Has anyone else come across this type of behavior?

What Panda product version are you using? You can check it in the version.ini file located in the antivirus installation folder
What operating system are you using?

Have you enabled the scan of compressed files for the on-demand scans?
Have you tried defragmenting the disks and running scandisk to discard any disk problems?

Re: Panda stops scanning at around 90% completion
I'm having the same problem.
I do have compressed files scanning ON and I did run chkdsk.
The first time was a full scan; it hung at 86%, after scanning over 12M files. It was stuck on an ISP-branded Outlook 2007 setup exe. I had to restart the computer (End task did nothing).
The second time, I only scanned the drive it hung on last time. After scanning just under 4.5M files, it hung on the IntelliJideaC-14.1.3 setup file.
Additionally, Windows Defender Real-Time scanning is still on and it can only be disabled temporarily, in case that's related.
How do I troubleshoot this?
Update edit:
I disabled Windows Defender through Group Policy; it was definitely making the PC sluggish (I wonder if that's what's happening with some test reviews).
It stopped scanning again, at 61% on an eclipse install file. It appears there is a hidden modal dialog: the buttons are changed to "Cancel" and "Resume". Clicking anywhere on that window plays the "can't do that" sound and is otherwise unresponsive. As it stands, the product is unusable.

It seems that is always stopping at install files
Does the problem persist if you disble the scan of compressed files?

Re: Panda stops scanning at around 90% completion
It does. I turned off both toggles (Real-Time and On-Demand) scanning of compressed files; it is stuck on a DLL file (scales.dll, part of R library) at 99%. The button still shows "Pause" but hitting it does nothing. Hitting "Cancel" does bring up the are-you-sure prompt.
Might be relevant: just after it got stuck the last 3 times, it did detect some positives.
What next?
UPDATE EDIT:
It is not stuck; it just took about an hour to scan one file (there was no disk activity in ResMon the entire time, so it wasn't just a screen update issue). I am able to view the report.
This is a workaround; how do we troubleshoot the problem with scanning compressed files?

Re: Panda stops scanning at around 90% completion
I did another scan, different drives. It completed fine but it remained at 99% and on the last file for a couple of hours, which is what the prior scan did.
"Pause" is clickable but it didn't do anything; "Cancel" brought the are-you-sure prompt again.
What is it doing and is this normal?

What is the size of the files it is being stuck on?
