Thanks so much for the info.
I got an error message on the softpedia link, but the filehippo link works. It is small at 55mb.
Still considering whether to take the plunge.
Thanks again.

If you're not sure I'd recommend making a complete/full disk image of your system that way you can go back to your current configuration with relative ease and zero complications.

Just don't save the disk image on drive C:, that would make it pointless and useless to restore from.

If that's Tencent PC Manager you should know it installs a Trojan.

I didn't know what Tencent was until this topic of yours and then I looked on YouTube for a review (a quick way to know if something is good or not) and most are calling it a "Chinese virus". Not believing them and after making a full system image I tried it out, and it does actually contain a Trojan that it installs into the "C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserProfile\Application Data\Tencent" folder, then there's another folder named "QQBrowser" nestled in there somewhere under another sub-folder. The .exe file if I'm remembering correctly in the "QQBrowser" folder is named "TencentDownloader.exe" or something along those lines.

Now what's really silly is Tencent PC Manager itself detects and deletes it's own Trojan. First I thought it was giving a false positive against one of its own files it itself installed because it produces a ton of false positives, so I restored it from the quarantine and uploaded it to VirusTotal. VirusTotal has at least two dozen confirmed detections so it is actually a Trojan installed by a supposedly "legit" antivirus.

I checked Tencent and the files that you mentioned are not there.

If you've already did scans with it then Tencent could've automatically cleaned it out by itself since it detects it. Allot of people have info on removing Tencent because of it.

I have never done any on demand scans. Been using it for a week. It seems to be running good and doesn't slow down the computer except when it is upgrading the data base.
Can you give me some references for people that have had problems with Tencent?
Thanks

It's on various websites stating how to remove/uninstall Tencent, and there's even some YouTube videos about it.

Here's a search about it:
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=Tencent+chine ... &ia=videos

I don't have much more info on it, just wanted to make sure it hadn't infected your computer.

Here's more evidence, Softpedia.com have removed it and put into red text why they've removed it:
