why http://download.cnet.com?

Post by Shinojmkd »

I use panda since 2009, do you know what I hate in panda?
its the "http://download.cnet.com", Why do I need to download free antivirus from them? why can't you let your users download it directly from the site like other products?

cool, I think there is some misunderstanding.
What I mean is, when we try to download all panda products expect free antivirus from "Pandasecurity.com" we don't need to visit any third party website, it directly download from the "Pandasecurity.com".
But in the case of free antivirus, we will get redirected to "http://download.cnet.com' only from there we can get the installer.
why do we need to visit http://download.cnet.com? Why can't we directly download free antivirus protection from Pandasecurity.com?

I am waiting for your reply.

I think we should, They are also paying you for your suggestions.
I really hate it, Because if we directly install any software downloaded from "http://download.cnet.com" we surely will get some adware. As an antivirus provider, we should not make our customers visit their site.
it will create a bad reputation for Panda, Never forget a free customer can also be a paid customer, Like me :)
Plz, Not this as a suggestion.

the price for a free antivirus is to cope with the publicity. All business use their free product with adware. It is a way of getting the customers to go to paid version with more benefits, like no publicity, phone support, etc, etc.

I think this could be the reason why is going through Cnet

They Normally Put Adds, I know that. :D
But I never seen any antivirus or software provider using 3rd party site for downloading their product.
They always give direct link in the main site. :ugeek:

probably they are delegating on cnet the publicity, and we charge cnet, for the honour of having hosted our free antivirus.

Surely the cause for concern with the link to Cnet is that the download is version 18.0 added on October 28, 2016.

Why isn't there an obvious download on Panda's website for Panda Protection Free v18.04?

I recommend Panda Protection Free to friends but they can't find it. But they do find a free download, and install that instead. After the 30 days when the trial expires they find out that there is a licence fee, but they were expecting Panda Free. So they think my recommendation is rubbish and download AVG instead.

Well I would no tbe able to answer that. I do not know why tha version on cnet is the 18.0
The clear URL for version 18.4 is nota available yet for the world, officially. but if you swing up the conversation, you will find it.
