[CLOSED] how to prevent Panda from interfering with my installer?

Post by davidb »

Hi,

I'm developing a desktop application. One of my testers has Panda on Windows 10, and it prevents my installer from even asking to elevate privileges. The error reported to my installer is "used by another process".

What do I need to do for Panda to play nice with my installer?

Thanks,
David

Panda doesn't show a message. My WiX installer shows the message. Here's how we know it's Panda causing the problem, from my tester:

I disabled Panda Antivirus.
I uninstalled MC.
I ran the MC installer. (Same install file I'd previously used.)
There was no problem!

I uninstalled MC.
I restarted Panda AV.
I ran the MC installer.
There was still no problem, even with AV running. Was it really AV then?

I tried to uninstall MC.
I got that error message on uninstalling!

I disabled Panda AV.
I tried to uninstall MC.
It uninstalled this time.

I restarted Panda AV.
I waited a minute to make sure it was really doing its thing.
I ran the MC installer.
It installed fine, despite AV running.

I uninstalled MC.
I waited longer.
I ran the MC installer.
It failed.

I ran the MC installer repeatedly.
It failed repeatedly.

I disabled Panda Antivirus.
I ran the MC installer.
There was no problem!

I have attached a screen shot of the error shown in my WiX installer.

Hi,

We will need a copy of the installer to do some tests here.
Could you provide us?
Also, we will also need to know which Panda version is installed on this Pc.

The installer is about 250 MB. Is there a way to send a link to you privately? Or how would you like me to get it to you?

I will find out from the tester what version of Panda he has installed.

Hi,

You can upload to google drive or different cloud storage or send us the installer link if you have uploaded in a website.

The product is: Panda Free Antivirus 16.0.2. I sent a private message to Txaber with a link to download my installer.
