disk 100% and slow

I am running Panda Global Protection 2016 17.0.1 with Windows 8.1.

My Disk Usage in task manager is constantly at 100% and my system response is very slow.

The major task associated with this is "Application Host Service (32 bit)", which contains "Panda Protection Service". Shutting it down brings the disk usage down, but also shuts down Panda.

How can I optimize my system for Panda in order to reduce the disk usage and speed things up?
