Panda reports the following program is trying to access the internet:
PROGRA-2\MICROS-1\Office14\OUTLOOK.EXEffice14\OUTLOOK.EXE
(I have used a dash - as I don't have a tilde on my keyboard)
No option selected eg deny, permit has any effect but just displays the notice again
However, Outlook cannot access the internet so shows just error in send/receive action
There is nothing in the Panda Scan report or in the Quarantine tab
I only use Panda Global Protection 2012
I tried Googling OUTLOOK.EXEffice14 but with no success
I tried to find the file in Explorer without success
I am not sure if this is a Virus so apologies if it is simply a Microsoft prob but I would appreciate a comment if any one can help
Many thanks
Jimbo

Re: OUTLOOK.EXE virus?
Well, this is not a virus issue, so we've moved the topic to the Consumer 2012 product issues
This issue is caused because of an Microsoft Office update which caused the firewall protection to misplace the Outlook path
In order to correct this issue, follow these steps
1.- Close Microsoft Outlook
2.- Delete the extend.dat file located in any of these folders (depends on the operating system)
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
C:\Users\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
C:\Users\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
3.- Reboot the PC

Re: OUTLOOK.EXE virus?
Thank you for your help, Jorge.
We couldn't find the "extend.dat" file anywhere on the system. My chum decided to remove Outlook from the Panda Virus Checker then rebooted to let Panda find it afresh. It did this straightaway so I am up and running again.
Thought you might be interested in how we solved this problem but thanks so much anyway for taking the time to reply to my cry for help!
